Madeleine Arrives.
Recently, well on the day she was born, I was thinking about the rock and roll music of my salad days. I really liked Never Mind the Bullocks, Live at Leeds (which is now available in its' third major revision) and, of course, Catholic Boy. The latter is not famous enough to leave by album name alone. It is by Jim Carroll poet and author. Nice stuff. You should give it a listen sometime.
I had a few dreams in the hospital. One was that we had triplets. I wanted to name one Disraeli, the other Churchill and the last one I didn't name until I awoke. She would have been Blair (shame on you who thought "Thatcher", that would never be). And it wasn't. We have only one and her name is Madeleine. She was born on October 5, 2005 at 20:36, weighing 5 pounds 9.4 ounces, and 18 inches long (gently stretched out). She was born by cesarean, which was unexpected, but remarkably quick. We had a skilled staff and I am very grateful.

Congratulations. She is quite magnificent indeed and beautiful. I can't imagine how proud and overjoyed you both are at this time in your lives. She is truly precious and I couldn't be happier for the two of you. Mazal Tov!

Hooray! Madeleine is so beautiful. Her name is spelled the same way as one of my favorite children's authors, Madeleine L'Engle - was that on purpose? I miss you guys. Hope you arre doing well!
